MALL, QR CODE, QUIZLET, AR

Hello everyone! I wanna talk about MALL, QR CODE, QUIZLET and AR today.

So let`s start with MALL.

One of the more recent changes in English language teaching has been the use of cellphones and tablets in language learning. Through the use of the phones, students are learning fundamental components of conversational English. The use of mobile devices in the context of learning has been given the acronym of MALL which stands for Mobile Assisted Language Learning. The main principles of mobile learning

(m-learning) are recognized as the potential for learning process to be personalized, spontaneous, informal and ubiquitous.

WHAT IS A QR CODE

A QR Code is very similar to a bar code. QR stands for Quick Response. The image consists of square dots in a unique configuration that provides information for the user.

QR Codes can contain text, links (to web sites, videos, files), and much more. QR Codes are safe to use in the classroom, so there’s no worry about leading your students astray. Students only access what you tell them to via the QR Code.

WHY USE A QR CODE

There’s a number of reasons to use QR Codes, but for me, the main reason is that it’s easy to give students web addresses and allows them to be more independent. I’m all about automating and releasing responsibility to my students as much as possible. I want to be the facilitator of learning, but not the one who tells them all the answers.

QR Codes reduce student frustration of typing in a web address. In know we can use a link shortener to create shorter links, but even those are difficult for a seven-year-old to type in accurately. With a QR Code, I can save time (no typing) and students get it right the first time. There’s no chance that students will mistype the web address.

What is AR
Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information.

Augmented reality in education will soon affect the conventional learning process. AR has the potential to change the location and timing of studying, to introduce new and additional ways and methods. Capabilities of Augmented Reality technology may make classes more engaging and information more apprehendable.

Educators know that the learning process should be all about creativity and interaction. While teachers do not necessarily need to recruit all students into science, their goal is to get them interested in a subject. That’s where AR could come in handy.

Quizlet
It is a free service that makes it easy to remember any information that can be presented in the form of study cards. All that is required is to find in the database or create interactive material - your own cards, adding pictures and audio files to them and then perform exercises and play games to memorize this material.
