Wiki

Today i wanna share some interesting info about Wiki.

Wiki is a web technology used for collaborative publishing on the web. Wiki is a type of server software that allows you to work with data on a remote server on the Web. Users interact with the software through a web interface that lets them read, edit and publish content.
Unlike other publishing platforms, wikis are:
• heavily based on collaboration,
• non-linear and not based on time (unlike blogs),
• are purely content-oriented (unlike conventional content management systems, that are design-driven).

Wiki Experience • TEFLPedia — A great example of a professional teachers’ community that comes together by means of a wiki site. Teflpedia is a wiki all about teaching English. It was established in 2008 and has been open to the TEFL community ever since. You can view the wiki without creating an account, but if you want to contribute to it, you must create a login name and password. In addition to reading and writing TEFL-related articles, there are spaces to contribute and download lesson plans and personal essays. There is a Discussion tab in the top left corner of each article if you want to discuss the entry before making any edits. Search for a term that you are researching, or browse the categories. Teflpedia has an excellent section full of topic-based conversation questions to use in class. This wiki has a lot of potential and could use more active members and editors. If you’re considering building a wiki for your own school or class, this may be a good way to get started.
